Honey Bun Breakfast Cake {Momma Joyce's Recipes}

I get my crafty soul from my mom.  We grew up with glue gun burns and straight pin pokes.  She was always sewing, creating, crafting, or baking.

Of all the things she is good at it, it is her cooking and baking that have created quite a following.  Over the years, she has collected a whole list of staple recipes that friends and family always beg her to make.  Her recipes are simple with few ingredients and they almost always include sour cream, cream cheese, or mayonnaise (which guarantees their deliciousness).

One of these staple dishes is her honey bun cake.  This cake shows up at every brunch and breakfast she cooks for and you can guarantee we will eat it every Christmas morning.   It is a crowd pleaser and so stinking yummy!

Even though we just ate it at my parents house on Christmas morning, I had to make it for my hubby and I to enjoy on New Years Day.

Honey Bun Breakfast Cake

Ingredients
1 - 18 ounce package yellow cake mix
2/3 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup chopped pecans

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions
1.  Heat oven to 350 degrees (325 for dark or non-stick pan)
2.  Add cake mix, oil, eggs, and sour cream to a large mixing bowl.
3.  Beat with an electric mixer on medium for 2 minutes.
  1. 4.  Pour half of the batter into a greased 13X9 pan.
  2. 5.  In a small bowl, stir the brown sugar, pecans, and cinnamon by hand.
  3. 6.  Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batter.
    7.  Pour the remaining batter over the pecan mixture.
    8.  Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. 9.  In a bowl, stir the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
    10. While the cake is still warm, take a fork and poke holes in the surface of the cake.
    11. Spread the sugar glaze over the cake.
    12. Let cool for 1 hour.

It is yummy, cinnamony, cakey deliciousness
that will melt in your mouth!
